Marcelo Bielsa’s brother insists the Leeds manager will respect his contract and stay at Elland Road next season
Leeds have been handed a huge boost in their bid to keep manager Marcelo Bielsa next season after the Argentine’s brother ruled out any potential departure. The Whites are on the verge of ending their 15-year exile from the Premier League, with eccentric 63-year-old Bielsa guiding them to second in the Championship with four games left.Bielsa looks set to stay at Leeds regardless of whether they go up or not1

However, Bielsa’s future has been the subject of intense speculation – particularly if Leeds were to falter in their bid for promotion.Reports in Argentina have linked him with a return to Newell’s Old Boys, but Bielsa’s brother has quashed those rumours.Rafael Bielsa, who is also a sports lawyer, told La Capital: “Marcelo cannot go back to Newells because he has a contractual problem. I made the contract. “If he does not go up to the Premier League, Leeds have the option to keep him. Taking into account the campaign that hes fulfilling its difficult to not keep him. And if he goes up, it is mandatory for both parties to stay.“To come back [to Newell’s] he would be breaking a contract and my brother is not doing that.“The Bielsa family does not break the rules. These are values that are learned as a child, you are taught by your mother, your grandparents and the whole family environment.
