Benitez has been less successful against his old club when in charge of Newcastle, having not won in four attempts.Newcastle secured an unlikely 2-2 draw at Anfield in April 2016 but it wasn’t enough to keep them up so they next played the Reds at St James’ Park in October 2017, where the two sides played out a 1-1 draw.The last two games have been pretty convincing defeats to Liverpool – 2-0 in March 2018 and 4-0 in December 2018.But with Liverpool’s damaging midweek loss at Barcelona potentially on their minds, Benitez may never get a better chance to beat them as Magpies manager.
